Idea Playground for Teachers

It's only natural that teaching large numbers of students (while also tending to your own performance career, numerous side-hustles, oh and your LIFE) we can start to feel burned-out, overwhelmed, and unoriginal. Let's talk about the kind of teacher that you were created to be, and explore ways that you can live more fully into your potential.

Vocal Pedagogy for Choral Conductors

Bring me all of your questions, and let's use scientifically sound, functional pedagogy to help improve your choir's sound. As a lifetime ensemble singer, I know that you can make meaningful technical adjustments in small, focused bites in your rehearsal. You and I can work together and you can pass on what you learn. I'd also love to meet your choir and have a day of learning and discovery.

I sought out Emily to get some help strengthening my bridges (passagios) and to make the transitions through them smoother. I also wanted to make sure that my singing approach was a healthy and safe one as I have a demanding performing schedule during the spring and summer months and wanted to avoid any undue strain. She very quickly identified some adjustments that I could make and suggested various excercises to help with a relaxed technique that would improve problems with fatigue and tension. The exercises helped immensely. I highly recommend Emily as a vocal instructor/coach.
— Chris Lester, of Sully Erna's Avalon Band

Emily understands the difficulty of having creative career dreams in a world where 9-5 is the norm. She is such a motivated person to work and achieve her own dreams, and the ability to verbalize her own experiences and ease the minds of other busy creative types is the added bonus.
— Rachel Pantazis, actor/singer/teacher/writer

Emily demonstrates incredibly effective and practical methods to establish healthy singing. She is a proponent of using the body as center of information for ways to describe body awareness to students. She uses specific exercises for strengthening different vocal registers, connection to alignment, and somatic awareness. Emily worked as a high school choral director and understands the mindset of high school singers, as well as the physicality of singing. She specializes in ways to communicate good singing habits.
